Product Designer (Permanent)

PRODUCT DESIGNER

Location - Bath

Salary - £26-28k p.a.
In addition to this we have a company profit related bonus scheme, which based upon current estimates will add in excess of £3.5k p.a. This is paid in two six monthly instalments.
There is also a company 6% no-contributory pension scheme. We also offer to match (up to a limit of 3% of salary) any contribution that the employee chooses to make, thereby providing a total company contribution of 9%.


The Applicant

The successful applicant will have a good standard degree in product / industrial design with a minimum of two or three years' work experience. This may include a period of work experience during degree studies.

A leading supplier of bathroom products with an excellent reputation. Our turnover during 2016/17 was £55m and this continues to grow. We have around 6% share of what is a very competitive & crowded bathroom market.

Our customers include major national retailers, national / regional builder's merchants and a nationwide network of independent bathroom retailers. Our products are manufactured to our own in-house designs and specifications from sources all over the world.

Due to further expansion we now have a vacancy for an additional Product Designer to work in our Bathroom Mirrors, Cabinets & Lighting product category.

Role

To assist the relevant Category Manager on specific new product development projects including:

*Concept generation & development.
*Provide CAD support, including modelling, rendering and preparation of detailed drawings.
*Preparation of new product specifications and maintain that of existing products.
*Ensure the availability of new product samples for the purposes of assessment, sales presentations, photography and exhibitions.
*Preparation of installation documents.


Profile

*First or upper second-class degree in Product / Industrial Design or similar.
*Preferably with some understanding of consumer electronics.
*A thorough knowledge of Solidworks and Adobe Creative Suite.
*An understanding of appropriate manufacturing processes and materials.
*Capable of a real hands-on approach to product development with a demonstrable understanding & interest in the technical aspects of product design.
*Capable modelling & workshop skills.
*Two or three years appropriate work experience.
