Location: Newport Shropshire.

Our client, a specialist manufacturer based near Telford, is looking to recruit a Design Engineer to join their design team on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will have a very exciting and challenging time ahead.

The Design Engineer will be responsible for design and engineering functions required for costing and production purposes as well as customer service and technical development.

Core Responsibilities:

*Define storage cabinet specifications and equipment ratings to meet customer requirements.
*Provide costing information for sales quotations, based on bills of material and estimated labour.
*Prepare clear and accurate drawings for customer approval and manufacture.
*Create new drawings in SolidWorks for standard cabinets.
*Solve any design issues during the manufacturing process.
*Liaise with suppliers for outsourced parts and assemblies including suppliers of heating ventilation, air conditioning, climate control (HVAC), gas detection and other electrical equipment.
*Advise where necessary on corrective actions or repair plans for customer service or to address customer problems on site.
*Write technical specifications, functional descriptions, operator manuals and other technical documentation.
*Assist in documentation required for system certification (i.e CE marking, ATEX certification).
*Some functions withing the company's Quality Management System and other standards such as weld quality, paint quality.
*Collaborate with engineering teams from the Group Companies in other countries.

Qualifications:

*Design or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
*Welding or similar qualification would be an advantage.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

*Trained and experienced in SolidWorks or Inventor 3D CAD software.
*Structural design experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment.
*Some training in or knowledge of HVAC systems and an ability to work with electrical drawings would be a distinct advantage.
*Ideally some welding/fabrication/engineering experience.
