They are looking for an ambitious and dedicated Technical Services Manager to join their Technical team based at their head office in Stonehouse. As a key member of the Technical team you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards across their business. Ensuring specs and labels are accurate, advising on nutritional claims and managing the Quality Management System you will act as the guardian for product data, ensuring legality and compliance across their portfolio of products.

Working alongside the Technical Manager and with the support of Company's Technologist you will need to be up to date on all relevant regulation and legislations and detail orientated to ensure the foundations for due diligence are in place and to ensure that all their processes are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure supplier specifications, nominated line forms, technical information and specifications are available and updated on relevant customer databases
  • Manage and implement the raw materials and finished product sensory and lab testing programme.
  • Ensure any out of spec production is escalated for corrective action
  • Liaise and manage the external laboratory to ensure testing is carried out in line with industry standards.

  • Monitor all lab results and complete a monthly lab analysis, investigate any out of spec results and ensure retests are carried out.
  • Manage nutritional information and nutrition queries, advising the business on Target Nutritional Standards and/or School Food Standards for education products.
  • Complete annual review of lab data and update internal systems and customer specs as required.
  • Provide legal information for food labelling ensuring that all packaging meets required labelling regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant third-party associates including Red Tractor, MSC etc.
  • Compile annual waste packaging figures for submission.
  • Coordinate internal and third-party audit programme to ensure that any corrective actions are implemented and the company QMS is operating effectively.
  • Support the development of the internal systems to meet third party requirements in line with the Global Food Standard (issue 7) for Product Authenticity, Claims and Chain of Custody including factory audits where necessary.
  • Work closely with Marketing and Sales functions to provide legal information for food labelling and specifications to ensure that all packaging meets required labelling regulations
  • Work closely with Technical Manager to resolve production issues and changes.
  • Produce Green Gourmet Sales spec and create product labels for factories.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience of working in the food industry, ideally within frozen food sector.
  • Update to date regulatory and legislative food industry knowledge.
  • Sound understanding of frozen good manufacture, ideally protein based.
  • Food safety qualification level 2 as a minimum

Hours of work:

  • 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday.
