Principal/Lead Process Engineer (Permanent)

Our Client is looking for a Principal / Lead Process Engineer for a Permanent opportunity based near Southampton.

QUALIFICATION / EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

Degree in Chemical Engineering

Experience

The role requires a Principal Process Design Engineer with experience in Oil and Gas, Refinery and / or Petrochemical facilities.
Experience in managing a suite of small projects ( up to £3M) and interfacing with a multi-discipline team.
Experience in complex revamp type projects
Experience in all aspects of design safety, including consequential analysis, relief and flare system design, hazardous area classification.

The Role

The Lead Process Engineer role is to manage a suite of small projects in a multi-discipline team. The role is new and will require a highly motivated engineer who is interested in setting up and growing a team of engineers, working closely with the Project Manager and the Client.
Once the team is formed, the Lead Process Engineer will be technically responsible for the delivery of the suite of projects, managing the process engineering budget and schedule. The role will also require a strong process safety background .
There is an expectation that the engineer will help develop close working relationship with the construction team to ensure the execution model is effective and improves the rework requirements often associated with separate engineering and construction functions.

Key Duties

Prepare estimates and schedules for new process engineering workscopes
Develop client requirements into a technical solution
Work with PM to develop engineering execution strategy for projects a
Prepare all process engineering deliverables:

HMB
PFD's /P&ID's
Linelist / Tie-in list
Equipment and Instrument datasheets
Operating and Control Narrative
Cause and Effects
Develop project philosophies ( safety / winterisation etc)
Hazardous Material Schedule
Utility Summaries

In addition, you will be expected to lead / be involved in:

Safety Reviews/ HAZID / HAZOP
Layout reviews
Constructability Reviews

Approve process engineering calculations deliverables prepared by more junior members of the team.
