Job Title: Vehicle Integration Engineer

(Temp to perm)


The Candidate will work within the Vehicle Integration team in the Engineering Department. Undertaking the formal product development process, from requirements capture and idea generation, through concept and prototype development, to final design verification and validation. They will work in collaboration with other engineers and with other departments to deliver World class products and services to existing and new customers, internally and externally to our client.

Purpose
The purpose of this role is to deliver complete EV drive system solutions for commercial vehicles from 7.5t to 45t GVW. You will be creating designs using their existing drive train components including traction motors, gearboxes, power controllers, battery systems together with 3rd part selected ancillary components and design the installation, mechanical structures, cooling systems and harnesses to package them into commercial vehicles such as buses, trucks and off road mobile equipment.

Key responsibilities:
* Specification and selection of their drive system components and other 3rd party components to meet the vehicle performance specifications
* Creating design layouts and schematics for vehicle installation within the required weight constraints and to achieve the required levels of manufacturability and after sales service.
* Building and managing complex 3D models
* Undertaking design analysis including lifetime and strength calculations
* Supervising the first of type installation of drive systems into vehicles at our engineering workshops.
* Generating the required documentation to support the vehicles through the certification process, performance evaluation and into manufacture.

Skills and Experience:

Essential
* A keen interest in, and knowledge of commercial vehicle drive systems and vehicle technology
* Degree qualified in a mechanical, automotive or other vehicle related engineering discipline
* Experience in a product development design environment (minimum 5 years' experience)
* Good 3D visualisation skills and packaging skills using 3D CAD tools.
* Ability to find components in the existing commercial vehicle component supply chain and to interact with suppliers and design using these components.
* Experience of working in a proactive and dynamic engineering environment.

Desirable
* Experience of designing fabricated structures for use on commercial vehicles
* Experience in generating technical installation and service documentation for use in the commercial vehicle environment.
