We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world's leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Project Leader- Communication Systems, to be based at their site in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

They work at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries.

Working for the company's submarine business the Project Leader- Communication Systems will be leading a team producing system designs and documentation, including design descriptions, diagrams and safety justifications, as well as carrying out some technical aspects themselves.

This role will provide the opportunity to gain a great deal of exposure within the business due to the high level of stakeholder engagement.

Job Description:

  • Leading and overseeing a team of engineers 
  • Producing system designs and documentation, including design descriptions, diagrams and safety justifications 
  • Equipment specification and selection to deliver key capabilities 
  • Supporting build model integration and bill of material compilation 
  • Supporting system design reviews and model reviews 
  • Collating equipment qualification evidence 
  • Supporting the production of test forms 
  • Preparing test plans, attending equipment factory acceptance tests and reviewing test evidence and reports 
  • Supporting procurement process 
  • Development and leadership of a diverse team of engineers within the department 
  • Ensuring that applicable policies and procedures are followed, in addition to supporting Quality audits

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience of engineering design processes 
  • Degree qualified within STEM subject - or equivalent qualification or experience  
  • Engineering background 
  • Project leadership experience  
  • You will be highly organised with excellent communication skills and a high level of diplomacy.

You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
