Our client is a very well-known airline. They are now seeking a Head of Supply Chain and Contracts for their large engineering department in Luton, UK. This is a permanent role with an attarctive airline related benefits package.

Overview:

This role reports directly to the Head of Engineering and is responsible for the complete engineering supply chain, contract management, inventory planning and control and inventory systems.

The Head of Technical Supply Chain & Contracts forms part of the Senior Management team for engineering, setting leadership vision for the engineering business and translates that into strategies, objectives and teams to deliver the high performance expected of one of Europe's largest airlines.

Responsibilities include:

* Focal point in engineering for all supply chain and contracting activity.
* To define a long term supply strategy for all engineering supply chain activities in conjunction with the senior management teams in engineering, operations and finance.
* Build and lead a strong, engaged and talented team, with a clear strategy and objectives, and coordinate all material supply activities across the whole engineering and maintenance organisation.
* Develop and agree service level agreements with all contracted supply chain support organisations and ensure delivery to targets.
* Develop and implement inventory planning, management and control activities across the network, ensuring materials are available in the right place at the right time.
* Optimise inventory levels to meet the demands of a large fleet and diverse network, identifying additional inventory requirements to minimise total engineering cost and actively reducing excess inventory.
* To monitor and develop policies, procedures, controls and targets for the supply chain and logistics as a whole and ensure effective implementation throughout engineering, using innovation, technology and systems for maximum benefit.
* To maintain an awareness of market intelligence within the Vendor and MRO Businesses.
* Manage departmental policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, manage investigation of all reported quality and safety findings.
* To establish and maintain business risk and safety management systems within commercial and materials to ensure the safe delivery of operational requirements through effective control of risks.

Key requirements and competencies:

* Senior management within a matrix environment. Ideally within an international environment.
* Ability to lead a strong team and develop a world-class airline engineering supply chain.
* Extensive aviation/logistics/supply chain management experience.
* Contract negotiation experience.
* Understanding of all regulatory requirements in contract management.
* Management of a large supplier base and budget.
* Strong financial awareness and knowledge of airline supply chain accounting.
