Experienced Duty Compliance Manager / Risk & Compliance Officer required to join my client's finance team based in Warrington, Cheshire.

To ensure the control and compliance framework is maintained for all UK companies and to ensure compliance with the UK Excise regulations. To meet all on-going reporting requirements for Excise with the relevant authorities and internally as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Completion and submission of all periodic Excise returns with the relevant authorities (to include but not limited to monthly W1 return and fortnightly W5D return
  • Ownership and renewal for all company excise licenses
  • Maintenance of excise documentation and records to support Company activity
  • Oversee, manage and audit the due diligence Customer/Supplier on-boarding process to ensure compliance with HMRC guidelines is maintained.
  • Delivery of training into the business on excise compliance related matters
  • Ensure all Products are set up within Tropos to reflect the correct tax status and for accurate reporting thereafter
  • Oversee all movements against the relevant Company excise movement guarantee and ensure the process and adherence to policy is maintained
  • Manage the financial exposure on all Company excise movement guarantees and arrange, as necessary for limits to be increased or security/cash provided as required by HMRC to ensure Company adherence to agreed limits
  • Liaison with HMRC on any excise related matters, acting as point of contact for all correspondence
  • Proactive investigation and satisfactory resolution of any excise related issues within the business, including Spirit losses.
  • Management and control over issuing of free standing duty stamps to the business
  • To liaise with relevant bodies regarding any Duty Changes & roll out into the business of new processes, documentation and training to support any such legislation changes
  • Monthly EC Sales List & Intrastat reporting to HMRC

The Successful candidate will have a significant amount of understanding and hands on experience in a similar role with working understanding of HMRC guidelines and procedures.
