New Product Development Assistant (Ongoing Contract)

Our well established client based in Cross Hands is looking to recruit an ambitious, enthusiastic and talented individual to join their busy, successful and friendly New Product Development team.

The role's objective is to work closely with and support the NPD Chefs, Managers and Technologists and Sales Team to create and develop successful new meat products for major supermarket and food service customers.

The ideal candidate should have a passion for food and will enjoy the practical, hands-on aspects of working in a busy food environment with multiple important deadlines to meet. They should be able maintain a positive "can do "approach throughout each varied day. Attention to detail and enthusiasm to see a task through is essential.

The role will include -

1. Organising and stock management of raw materials and packaging for sample making
2. The stock management of ingredient samples and logging of these samples into internal computer systems
3. Ensuring the efficient running of the NPD Kitchen, including a "clean as you go" approach and high standards of hygiene and food safety
4. Ensuring that samples are correctly packaged for submission to customers through liaison with relevant colleagues through the factory
5. Arranging the dispatch for samples via courier or other routes
6. Preparing and cooking of products and meals for customer visits
7. Cooking at customer presentations and other events
8. Making samples to a high standard of accuracy and presentation against pre-defined recipes for development

Experience required -

• Candidates should have a qualification in a food-related discipline, or experience in a food environment such as a busy commercial kitchen or, if otherwise qualified, be able to demonstrate a strong enthusiasm for food and the ability to cook to a professional standard
• The role requires numeracy skills and a basic level of competency in Word, Excel and Power Point
• Food Hygiene Certificate (training can be provided)
• Full Clean Driving Licence
