PI Underwriter (Permanent)

PI Underwriter, London - Up to £55,000 plus excellent benefits and discretionary bonus.

I am looking for a highly experienced and target driven Underwriter to write Professional indemnity risks.
Within this role you will have considerable autonomy to use your extensive technical experience and skills to make decisions which will make a real difference in developing the UK portfolio and underwriting strategy / philosophy.
Your advanced interpersonal and negotiation skills will enable you to excel at developing and maintaining key relationships to maximise income and achieve profitable growth.

You will;
Underwrite new business in line with established underwriting practice.
Proactively develop and maintain business relationship with a key partner, actively encouraging generation of profitable business.
Assist in Financial and Business planning by underwriting analysis, forecasting and action planning to achieve KPI's.
Focus on knowing the performance of the account and communicate to management accordingly including identifying any key trends.
Proactively develop a prospect list of appropriate new business opportunities and ensure that pipeline is managed and followed through.
Liaising with Regional teams and other internal stakeholders as appropriate to ensure that key targets and objectives are achieved.
You will be underwriting mainly the IFA market, but will also be part of the wider PI team involved in more General PI business.

You need;
High level of technical product knowledge for Professional Indemnity underwriting
Experience of underwriting PI for financial advisers highly desirable though not essential
Self motivated with excellent time management and prioritisation skills
Established networking and relationship building skills
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the PI insurance market
High level of communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build positive relationships at all levels both internally and externally
Ability to succeed in a target driven environment
Ability to identify and convert business opportunities
Sound knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements for insurance
ACII Qualification desirable
