Hospital Cleaners and Domestic Support (Temporary)

Acorn is currently looking to recruit Catering Staff to work within Hospitals to support our NHS during these demanding times.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsible for carrying out cleaning tasks of clinical and non-clinical areas using appropriate cleaning equipment, materials and cleaning products, to the method and frequencies required, also to undertake specific ward based catering tasks.

Key Tasks:

Domestic / Cleaning

• Cleaning of all types of floor surfaces
• Cleaning of all furniture, fixtures and fittings
• Clean wall surfaces and doors.
• Clean wash hand basins, showers, baths, toilets, urinals and fittings
• Collect waste for disposal; replace waste bags & clean waste bins.
• Replenish disposable items - toilet paper, hand towels, paper rolls and soap.
• Clean dispensers and holders, internally and externally
• Specialist cleaning tasks when necessary, requiring the use of steam cleaners and HPV equipment

Key Tasks:

Ward Based Kitchens and Patient Services

• Liaise with patients and nursing staff when preparing and serving meals and beverages to patients.
• Replenish patient's water jugs.
• Wash and store patients drinking glasses and jugs
• Wash crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment after all meals.
• Maintain the kitchen to a hygienic standard at all times.
• Order and maintain supplies for food provision and ensure its correct storage, security and stock rotation.
• Undergo any relevant mandatory / statutory training.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of dietetic requirements.
• Check food trolley to ensure it has the correct dietary foods and sufficient food for the ward.
• Collect food meal trolleys, check visually as to the correct contents in line with the ordering sheet, and deliver to wards.
• Collect refuse for disposal and replacing bags and cleaning of holders in kitchen area.
