Job Title: AutoCAD Design Technician

Location: Kings Langley, Watford

Salary: £25,000 - £35,000 per year

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent role

Lockmetal are statement cladding design, supply and installation specialists, our work involves some of the more complicated and bespoke cladding requirements; things like recessed balconies, penthouse/plantrooms, window detailing, feature beams, canopies, under-crofts and rainwater features, those areas of the building that make a statement!

The Role:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented AutoCAD Design Technician to join our team. The AutoCAD Design Technician will play a crucial role in supporting our design and contracts teams working on multiple construction projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of construction and manufacturing principles, as well as proficiency in CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.

The Candidate:

• Proficiency in CAD software, particularly AutoCAD
• Knowledge of construction and manufacturing principles
• Previous experience or relevant coursework in construction principles and / or engineering and manufacturing design
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in design work
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and design software.
• A bachelor's degree or NVQ in a related field is a plus but not mandatory.
• Driving requirements

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Collaborate with assigned team members to create detailed design drawings and specifications for live projects being delivered.
• Use CAD software, specifically AutoCAD, to produce accurate and high-quality technical drawings and plans
• Interpret and implement design guidelines, building regulations, and industry standards.
• Review and revise design drawings based on feedback from project teams and clients.
• Create fabrication drawings and pre-production order forms for suppliers.
• Maintain and organise design files, ensuring they are up-to-date and easily accessible.
• Work closely with architects and subcontractors to ensure designs meet project requirements.
• Assist in project documentation and administrative tasks as needed.
• Contribute to tender take off and product specification when required.
• Conduct site surveys when required.
• Work with project team to ensure design and preproduction times are on programme.
