On behalf of client we are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Environmental Consultant to join their team. You will play a key role in providing environmental and energy infrastructure services that protect the environment and minimise risks for our clients. Operating across various locations in the UK, they combine technical expertise with a practical and commercially focused approach. Their solutions assist clients in achieving their business and sustainability goals by effectively managing and reducing environmental risks associated with land transactions, property development, day-to-day operations, and pollution incidents.

As a Senior Environmental Consultant you will support the Consultancy Division in providing customers, colleagues and other stakeholders with commercially aware, technically proficient and professional environmental risk reduction services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project management with support and training from the regional team, finance, and consultancy support teams.
• Coordinate site works, including investigations and remediation activities, in line with project scope and maintain communication with relevant parties.
• Design site investigation plans and oversee the implementation of site investigations, remediation works, and verification/validation processes, including associated sampling and monitoring.
• Ensure high standards of health and safety and quality are maintained on-site by managing contractors effectively.
• Schedule samples for laboratory analysis and liaise with the laboratory as required.
• Prepare various reports, including Preliminary Risk Assessments, Interpretive site investigation reports, and site verification/validation reports.
• Take responsibility for project financials and control project costs.
• Assist Principal Environmental Consultants in the development and training of less experienced team members.

Requirements:

• Hold a degree in a relevant earth science or geo-environmental related discipline, and ideally working towards Chartership with a relevant organisation.
• Knowledge of various site investigation techniques, with experience in supervising a variety of them, particularly drilling techniques.
• Experience working on contaminated land projects, specifically those involving petroleum hydrocarbon contamination, would be advantageous.
• Working knowledge of relevant environmental guidance, regulations, and legislation.
• Proficiency in logging soil/rock in accordance with BS5930.
• Understanding of the development and updating of Conceptual Site Models (CSMs).
• Ability to maintain professionalism and provide excellent service while attending domestic and commercial properties.
• Familiarity with remediation techniques for soil and groundwater.
• Understanding of chemical analyses performed on soil, water, and air samples.
