Business Support (Maintenance)
Location: Totnes
Hours: Monda y -Friday / 8am-2pm
Salary: £13.65 per hour
Contract: 4 Months-but could be extended


Acorn by Synergie is currently searching for a Business Support Operative to work with in the maintenance team, the successful candidate will need to have an in-date forklift licence and have a category C1 driving licence.

Key Responsibilities:


-Provide support for the back office administrative team by assigning tasks to operatives and managing stock procurement using our IT system.
-Ensure compliance with corporate management responsibilities regarding Safe Systems of Work (SSOW), risk assessments, and yard/site safety.
-Offer technical assistance to internal/external customers and stakeholders within Commercial Services and the wider Council when needed.
-Collaborate with team members to coordinate and oversee planned property maintenance, ensuring adherence to key performance indicators and targets.
-Update and handle various administrative tasks such as processing client inquiries, managing purchasing and procurement.
-Accurately access and update all relevant information systems within the back office.
-Execute tasks and projects as instructed, ensuring they are completed to professional standards.
-Coordinate with the Depot Operations Manager to ensure timely completion of work/projects meeting required standards.
-Record time and materials used for each task or project accurately.
-Ensure compliance with Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, and Health and Safety regulations.
-Utilise appropriate PPE for each task.
-Conduct regular inspections of tools, plant, equipment, and vehicles.
-Assist with material collection, goods unloading, and general stores management.
-Ensure safe and efficient use of Council resources and equipment.
-Manage time effectively and efficiently.
-Maintain flexibility to accommodate changing work patterns, especially for emergency tasks.
-Adhere to the Council's Driving Standards Policy and complete mandatory vehicle checks.
-Attend and complete training courses relevant to the role as required.
-Maintain professional conduct with the public and customers.
-Respond courteously to any public complaints while on duty.
-Undertake any additional duties as assigned by the Management team.
-Stay informed of Property Services' roles and responsibilities.



Essential Requirements:


-In-date Forklift Licence
-C1 Driving Licence
- Plant operations licence (digger/MEWP).
-Administrative skill such as purchasing stock via IT systems
- Experience of basic carpentry, plastering, tiling, and small building works related to property maintenance would be an advantage
