I have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Regional Sales Manager to join my client in Fife. My client supplies engineering and automotive products, hand and power tools, PPE and workshop consumables throughout the UK.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Regional Sales Manager will provide overall management and direction of company revenue generating activity for Scotland and Northern Ireland.

The RSM will be responsible for retaining and growing existing revenues in addition to generating new business through their sales teams for the market within the defined area. The RSM will also develop and implement sales plans to ensure attainment of market revenue, gross margin and profit objectives and will ensure that all customers are serviced to a standard of excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

 Direct Sales Representatives to successfully implement the market's annual operating plan.
 Ensure the attainment of the market's annual revenue and profit objectives.
 Develop and implement annual business and profit plans to support the company's market objectives.
 Provide input to the internal sales and marketing departments regarding market conditions, the effectiveness of company value-added selling efforts and programs, the competitive environment and potential opportunities.
 Provide management oversight and coordination of sales activities of independent agents assigned to the market, as well as other alternative sales methods.
 Develop an effective team by communicating a clear vision, engaging with individuals, developing skills and motivating them to perform to stretch targets.
 Recruit, train and manage performance of high performing sales staff, providing them with meaningful performance feedback and data as appropriate.
 Provide coordination and appropriate support for national account and core sales efforts occurring within the market.
 Track, monitor and evaluate the rate of customer openings and retention within the market, and implement corrective actions when shortfalls occur in either area.
 Provide appropriate monthly internal reporting to management as required.
 Provide sales forecasts to the business as required.
 Ensure that all market operations and activities are in compliance with the company's existing accounting and operating policies and the ethical & legal guidelines as stated in the corporate compliance manual.
 Develop sustainable profitable sales growth by
o Penetration of existing customers
o Acquisition and development of new customers
o Retention and development of major/key accounts
o Meeting/exceeding customer expectations
o Promoting the company brand as the regional leader and understanding competitors
o Identifying sales opportunities within and outside of the expected norm.
 Ensure the sales team foster the right attitude and adopt the right procedures to contribute effectively.
 Play an active role in sales planning, budgeting, forecasting, and plan implementation.
 Contribute to the compilation of one and three year sales plans, as required.
 Ensure that the region exceeds the planned expectations.
 Prepare forecasts to an appropriate schedule to meet Company requirements.
 Set aggressive sales targets for the team, ensuring that they are achieved in a cost effective way.
 Enhance the performance of the sales team by identifying development opportunities and enhancing skills.
 Manage the sales team and allocating resources to achieve the sales plan.
 Work with and support other RSMs and operational managers.
