Brief Role Description

An opportunity has arisen for a time served Panel Wireman. Duties will include panel wiring and general wiring of single and multicore cables. The job also requires the ability to fault find, test and diagnose issues on in service naval and army equipment so the applicant needs to be proficient in the reading of wiring diagrams, schematics and technical drawings and the use of production test equipment

Reporting to the Team Leader, to deliver all aspects of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People in accordance with the Weapon Systems UK Business Management Systems to ensure daily operations targets are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Construct and repair production enclosures and assemblies
  • Looming, crimping and terminating with single and multicore cables
  • Solder and repair to basic printed circuit board level
  • Following the relevant manufacturing instructions, drawings and other Quality Standards/specifications
  • Comply with Health and Safety and other relevant regulations and guidelines
  • Self-Verification of own work to meet the required Quality Standards/specification
  • Work in accordance with specified safety procedures and instructions i.e. Risk Assessments & COSHH Assessments
  • Maintain a good standard of housekeeping with in the area
  • Be a part of a team to resolve and implement corrective actions against SHE & Production issues within the area
  • Report any hazards, near misses and incidents in a timely manner in line with company procedures
  • Ensure daily safety checks on equipment have been completed through daily process confirmations
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and other support functions to ensure best method of manufacture has been utilised

Qualifications:

  • Must have served a recognised apprenticeship in electrical Engineering (Indentures required) *ONLY TIME SERVED CANDIDATES WILL BE CONSIDERED*
  • City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in electrical Engineering

Key Skills/Experience:

Essential:

  • Able to follow and interpret wiring, schematic and technical drawings
  • Ability to carry out complex system integration tasks including the following test areas of line checking, insulation testing, earth bonding and flash testing
  • Ability to follow manufacturing Instruction, to listen and follow verbal instructions
  • Awareness of ESD and antistatic precautions
  • Ability to work on own initiative

Desirable:

  • Understanding and knowledge / skills to cover IPC 610
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620C requirements and acceptance for cable and wire harness assemblies
  • IPC-7711/IPC7721 rework and repair of electronic assemblies
  • IPC J-STANDARD-001 requirements for soldered electrical and electrical assemblies
  • IOSHH
  • Awareness of PUWER & Risk Assessment
  • Manual handling
  • AED & CPR.
