The Business Development Manager is responsible for winning new business for a market leading EdTech SaaS brand, by sourcing and contacting organisations and key individuals to create partnerships that result in sign up for new online solution products and new group membership deals. They work to establish services as important and popular for stakeholders within the education sector.

The Business Development Manager creates and manages a broad pipeline of opportunities and develops relationships to maximise revenue, market share, our own knowledge of the sector and the reputation in various the regions.

Benefits:

Great basic salary£30,000-£35,000 with realistic OTE of £48-50K , but that is uncapped

Flexible working hours - start early or late, working around the core hours of 10-4!

Key responsibilities

*Build and grow a pipeline by identifying and targeting potential partners and groups of schools/partner organizations, to ensure quarterly and annual targets are met, adapting plans and activity where necessary
*Pitch and sell to prospect groups of schools and local authorities via the telephone, written communications, proposals, tenders, face-to-face meetings, presentations and networking opportunities
*Negotiate effectively to secure the best possible revenue
*Develop a sound understanding of the wider education sector in the context of school leadership and governance, using this knowledge to enhance sales consultation
*Research and map the market potential for the given territory, including the make-up of school groups and multi academy trusts in the region, local authorities, the political landscape, interrelationships, partnerships and existing advocates for leverage
*Write and execute an quarterly sales plan, outlining activity and prospects that will meet or exceed targets
*Determine decision-makers and opportunities through expert networking, relationship building and research
*Be a highly professional brand ambassador for making use of networking opportunities, conferences and events in the region
*Adapt and deliver PowerPoint presentations and core product demos to director level at local authorities and academy trusts, striking a balance between a sales pitch and sharing insights with the sector
*Work closely with colleagues in research, marketing, account management, strategic partnerships, member support and data insights in order to capitalize on their knowledge of data, articles and member experience
*Record and log all activity on the company systems (Salesforce), including sales activity, pipeline and data relating to the make-up of a group deal
*Liaise closely with member service and account management teams to ensure smooth handover and customer experience
*Gather and share with the company where appropriate intelligence about the sector, our customers and their needs, our competitors, and strategic relationships
*Report into and work closely with the Commercial Director to ensure there is central oversight of activity and progress

Competencies (knowledge, skills & behaviors expected)

Strong written and oral communication
Presentation and negotiation skills
Good use of Microsoft Excel and Salesforce and the ability to analyse data
Excellent time management and organization skills, including ability to multitask and prioritise
Able to balance a drive to reach targets with a strong work ethic and protecting the best interests of the company
Accuracy and an eye for detail
Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships internally and externally
Able to work competently remotely and largely autonomously


Additional experience / qualifications

Good understanding of the English education sector
Subscription sales experience
Excellent written and spoken English
Experience of working with school leaders, governors or with local authority educationalists
Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills
Good understanding of local authorities, Multi Academy Trusts, and alliances and clusters of schools
Good use of Excel and the ability to analyse data
Experience of selling SaaS and cloud based support services
Strong presentation skills and experience of presenting to small and large groups
Target driven
Previous experience of business development, account management, relationship management or new business sales
