A well-established, multi service, award winning international law firm, has a new and exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate/Legal Director to join one of their high street law firms in their offices based in the centre of Manchester.

This firm is well known for its excellent flexible working practices which were in place even before current times and has won recognised rewards reflecting this. This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday, the successful candidate can expect a salary ranging from £40k-£60k

The team in Manchester consists of 20 lawyers, and are supported by a dedicated secretarial/document production team of four.

The team is part of a national property group with further teams based in London and Liverpool. Within this group are specialist teams dealing with Property Finance, Planning, Property Litigation, Construction and Residential Property.

The successful candidate will join a successful established real estate team and will work directly with a real estate partner. You will develop your own profile, practice and skills to grow and develop with the team over the coming years ultimately becoming a trusted adviser to the team’s clients.

You will lead on complex, market leading transactions, have end to end responsibility for a caseload of transactions – specifically acquisitions and disposals and landlord and tenant lease negotiations. Have supervision and support of junior colleagues on the more straightforward transactions. Have line management responsibility for at least one other lawyer and a lead role in the management of the department.

Essentially you will advise a broad range of clients, including occupiers, property developers, owners and financiers, on matters including: -

Acquisitions and disposals of investment property – including sale and lease-back transactions.

Negotiation of leases and associated landlord and tenant documents (acting for both landlords and tenants).

Acquisition of sites for development, negotiating development and funding agreements, dealing with disposals of development sites to investors.

Supervising junior colleagues on property portfolio management including licences, consents and granting of underleases.

Overseeing junior colleagues reviewing, reporting and advising on title matters.

Advising on heads of terms.

Providing property support to other teams within the firm such as corporate and insolvency and restructuring.

 

To be considered for this exciting role you must have:

Law degree or equivalent.

Significant experience in Commercial Property, landlord and tenant.

Willingness and aptitude to build on already strong knowledge and skills in all areas outlined in the job description.

Demonstrates an understanding of clients, colleagues and others.

Excellent communication skills.

Able to prioritise tasks and to work under pressure.

Excellent organisational skills.

Adherence to guidelines and procedures.

The ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Enthusiasm to promote the firm and the Real Estate department through networking and business development activities.

Financially aware.

Pro-active approach to day-to-day work.

Experience of supervising junior lawyers.

 

Desirable:

Experience acting for tenants in high value and time-critical lease negotiations.
