Acorn by Synergie is excited to be recruiting an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for a progressive engineering company that provides monitoring and measurement solutions for the marine and utilities industries on a worldwide scale.


Scope of the role

To be responsible for development and maintenance of the company's mechanical design.



Main responsibilities include

* Mechanical design of the company's family of Vessels
* Development with the company's team of manufacturing drawings
* Identification of components and materials to be used in company's products.
* Prototype, test and develop new designs to a production stage.
* Maintaining Design drawings
* Involvement in project management
* Support the undertaking of integration and system testing from work up trials through to trials. Note this may include the witnessing of supplier acceptance testing, or off site working for short periods (typically 5-10 days) both in the UK and abroad.
* SolidWorks used to produce 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings. All files are managed within the vault.
* Practical skills to produce conceptual models.



Knowledge, skills and experience required:

* Experience in mechanical design preferably in a marine environment
* Experience in team leadership and / or project manager
* Developing technology for marine environments
* A relevant graduate or postgraduate level qualification in mechanical design
* Possibly HNC/D if experience was relevant
* Excellent 2D & 3D CAD skills
* Experience with data analysis, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
* Good level of understanding of mechanical design, development and manufacturing techniques, project management, delivery and line management experience
* Materials selection
* Interest in working within a small team in a unique environment.
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Composites design and construction experience
* Development of new technology
* Mechanical integration of electrical systems
* Customer and sub-contract management
