Company Overview: our Client is a leading construction company dedicated to delivering high-quality projects across various sectors. They are seeking a talented Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team and contribute to the successful delivery of our projects.

Position Overview: We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience in commercial Projects, particularly in new build schools projects. The ideal candidate will have a background working with tier one contractors and a proven track record of managing all aspects of quantity surveying for large-scale projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee all quantity surveying activities for new build schools projects from inception to completion.
  2. Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for projects, ensuring they align with client requirements and company objectives.
  3. Procure subcontractor packages and negotiate contracts to achieve the best value for the company.
  4. Monitor project costs, identify variations, and manage change control processes effectively.
  5. Provide commercial advice and support to the project team, including identifying opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.
  6. Prepare and submit accurate and timely valuations and financial reports to clients and stakeholders.
  7. Manage subcontractor payments, including assessing and certifying interim and final accounts.
  8. Collaborate with the project team to resolve commercial and contractual issues in a timely manner.
  9. Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company policies, and relevant industry standards.
  10. Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, providing guidance and training as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  2. Chartered status with a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is highly desirable.
  3. Minimum of 8 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a focus on new build schools projects.
  4. Proven track record of working with tier one contractors on large-scale construction projects.
  5. Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management principles.
  6. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  7. Proficiency in using industry-standard quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  8. Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
