Commercial Manager - Paper (Permanent)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Manager to join the team, working 37.5 hours a week. You will be based in Earls Barton, with UK travel required.

The Role:

As part of the commercial and trading team, the Commercial Manager shall identify, secure, coordinate and supervise the safe, timely, profitable procurement of quality recyclables materials from third-party companies local and national, within pre-set budget parameters. This involves developing a strategy and implementing a supply plan.

You will negotiate effectively on buying paper recyclate materials to optimise the margin, and leverage and exploit market conditions. You’ll put in place effective contractual vehicles for the acquisition of commodities, that minimise risk and maximise performance for Viridor Resource Management (VRM).

The successful Commercial manager will work with VRM and Viridor Waste Management Logistics Operations to coordinate the timely collection and transport of goods from source to our facility. You will ensure that your supply chains optimise costs, performance of transportation and positively impact VRM’s bottom line.

Our Ideal Commercial Manager:

• Proven commercial procurement experience within the recycling industry or Experience in any competitive procurement environment
• Have detailed knowledge of all grades of recyclable materials types (but especially paper), their end uses, and market purchase and sale values
• A good understanding of the supply and demand cycles and market influence factors, competitors and trade prices of all materials
• Strong commercially astute negotiator
• Well organised, logical and creative thinker
• Self-motivated with the ability to work to targets and deadlines
